The ability often serves as a plot device allowing a character to avoid unwanted attention or function more normally if their full size would be an inconvenience to themselves or others. If the character is Hyper-sized compression may allow mobility or otherwise enable a character to fit where they normally would not, while in the most extreme of Omni-sized scenarios, compression may be a purposeful choice on the character's part to prevent major catastrophes.

Compression may take place in many forms, from illusion magics or even pocket dimension that matter is transported to.
