What is Premium Swell Tales?

Premium Swell Tales is a set of extra features available to those willing to support us on Patreon. Joining any level is enough to grant premium access. These features include access to the site art gallery, the ability to advertise commission info and accept commissions, create quick-add tag packs for tale uploads, private CYOAs, and the ability to reserve open paths on public CYOAs for contributions! What is CYOA?

CYOA stands for Choose Your Own Adventure. It is a special type of story that presents the reader with a list of options, allowing them to choose different paths to follow as they read and change the ending. Swell Tales supports both private and community-based CYOA. In private, only you and users you invite can add paths to a CYOA. Public CYOAs are open to everyone to contribute their additions and help the story grow.

What are the Contests about?

Contests are a way for users to put their best foot forward and write their hearts out for a chance at glory. Swell Tales provides rough criteria, such as the expansion type, genre, gender, and a special item that must be involved so that everybody is writing on the same page. Contests are generated roughly every 2-3 months and usually end on a major holiday, with that same holiday acting as the overall theme. We try to give 2 months for writing and 2 weeks for people to read and vote on the submissions. The top three winners receive awards and dashboard promotion. The first place winner also receives a free illustration of their scene of choice.

What is the User Level and how does it Increase?

Your user level is a measurment of your engagement and contribution to Swell Tales! Everything you do on the site helps you grow, but uploading stories and giving constructive criticism is the most beneficial. There are 12 levels in total.

Is there a Content Filter?

Yup! If you click your username to open your account settings, you can block any kind of content by editing your blacklist. Anything selected in your blacklist will be filtered out of all search results and the dashboard.

This Dashboard is Super Cluttered. Can I Customize it?

Absolutely. Under your username options, simply select edit dashboard and turn off what you don't want to see.

Who is Swell Tales' ADORABLE Mascot??

That's Maria! She's the head librarian around here. She tends to get in trouble with a lot of the books, though. Might want to keep your distance unless you're looking to get smothered. There's a rumor that she has a private library hidden within Swell Tales, where she goes to enjoy her favorite books... Poke around enough and you might find it.

Why are there Missing Art Pieces in the Gallery?

There are missing art pieces? That's odd. Maybe they're hidden away in a private place only Maria can go... If you poke around Swell Tales hard enough, you might find them.
